We collect only the information that is necessary to provide counselling services and meet professional, ethical, and legal requirements. This may include:

- Personal history and background information relevant to counselling
- Health information, including mental health concerns and treatment history
- Payment and billing information
- Emergency contact information
Information is collected directly from you, or with your consent, from relevant third parties (e.g., doctors, schools, or agencies).
2. Use of Personal Information
Your personal information is used only for purposes directly related to your counselling care, including:
- Providing counselling and therapeutic services
- Communicating with you regarding appointments and services
- Coordinating care with other professionals (with your consent)
- Administrative and billing purposes
- Meeting legal and regulatory obligations
3. Disclosure of Personal Information
Your information will remain confidential, except in the following circumstances required or permitted by law:
- If there is risk of serious harm to yourself or others
- If there is disclosure or suspicion of child abuse or neglect
- If records are subpoenaed by a court of law
- To comply with other legal or regulatory requirements
In all other cases, your written consent will be obtained before sharing your information.
4. Storage and Security of Information
- Client records are stored securely in electronic and/or paper format.
- Electronic records are protected by encryption and password security.
- Paper files are stored in locked cabinets.
- Only the counsellor has access to these records.
- Records are retained for a minimum of 7 years after the last session (or until the client reaches age 19, plus 7 years, for minors), as required by BC regulations, after which they are securely destroyed.
5. Access to Your Information
You have the right to:
- Access your personal information and counselling records (with reasonable notice)
- Request corrections to ensure accuracy
- Withdraw consent for the collection, use, or disclosure of your information, subject to legal and professional limitations

6. Website and Online Services
If you visit my website or use online booking/video counselling platforms, please note:
- Basic usage data (such as cookies or analytics) may be collected to improve website function.
- Third-party platforms (e.g., Jane, Owl Practice, Zoom) have their own privacy policies. While I take care to use secure, compliant services, I encourage you to review those policies.
